Thank you to the Chung Wah Society NT for blessing our building with their Lion Dance!
The traditional Chinese Lion Dance has a strong and rich history that dates back to the early days of imperial China. It is believed that this tradition was brought to Darwin by the first Chinese settlers to the Northern Territory and has been passed on from generation to generation. The Lion Dance is believed to scare away evil spirits and brings good luck, joy, fortune, and happiness.
The lions started at the front of the building and worked their way through both floors to bless our work areas, studios and rooms. The lions were accompanied by musicians who played drums, cymbals and the gong. Marcia presented the lions with a red packet offering before they made their way to Darwin High School.
